Gingival Recession

Treatment of Gingival Recession

Gingival recession at single or multiple sites are treated with connective tissue grafts. These provide root coverage and thicken the gingival tissue to reduce the chance of further recession. They also blend in very well with the surrounding tissues to produce a harmonious result.

Recession at dental implants can be treated sometimes in the same way.

Treatment of Gingival Recession with Gingival Veneer

Sometimes gum recession is very extensive and it is not possibe to treat it with a surgical procedure. The alternative is a gum veneer. This is usually made of silicone but can be made of acrylic. It can be removed for cleaning but otherwise is worn all the time and does not interfere with eating or speaking.
