BEFORE SEDATION

• If you are having oral sedation you may eat a light meal 2 hours prior to your appointment.
• if you are having IV sedation DO NOT eat or drink 6 hours prior to surgery. If necessary one cup of water is permitted no later than 2 hours prior to surgery.

ON THE DAY OF TREATMENT:

• A RESPONSIBLE ADULT KNOWN TO YOU MUST ESCORT YOU HOME.  Sedation will not be given if you have not arranged this.
• DO take your routine medication at the usual time

DURING THE 24 HOURS FOLLOWING TREATMENT:

• DO make sure you have someone resident at home.
• DO stay resting quietly at home.
• DO NOT use complex machinery (e.g. cookers, washing machines, power tools).
• DO NOT sign any important legal or business documents.
• DO NOT drink any alcohol
